In short, here's what we did with Tiff's books.

What was the problem?

Being a first-time fiction author is super daunting, especially when your inspiration is... YOU! Although all fiction writers are inspired by their own experiences, Tiff had to tread carefully so as not to wander too much into creative non-fiction or even memoir territory.

How she solved it

As most authors will tell you, using outside eyes to gain perspective is absolutely invaluable.

Although Tiff didn't want to engage an editor too early, she took her time and paced her self-edits, then put the word out to her network to get some feedback.

This helped her step out of her own experiences and build a well-considered character.

Why would you do it this way?

Tiff does several rounds of self-edits to get her book in the best shape possible. She takes the plunge with editing when she's already done a lot of work so that she can maximise our time together and challenge herself.

This is great for writers who are ambitious and want to up their game in a big way, but who also don't have time pressure around releasing their book - because good books take time.
