Style Power: Unlock the Connection Between Your Soul and Your Wardrobe... And Set Yourself Free in Style [2021]

A sought after stylist, Alma’s stance is to blend energetics with her passion for style so that clients walk away feeling confident in their clothes.
She talks about getting signs from the universe that she needed to take her unique message beyond where it was. When we spoke, the book was on pre-sale and the pandemic was still going strong, but Style Power went on to become a bestseller nonetheless.
Alma had a strong following that loved the way she brings authenticity into the conversation around what to wear. Her book was a call to freedom as a stylist, and as she encouraged others to be themselves, she grew into her own pathway...
And Style Power the book followed from there.
Check out our conversation here:
In a nutshell, here's how Alma's book project unfolded.
What was the problem?
Alma reached the point in her career where she could no longer follow the industry standard rhetoric. She had different ideas around style advice and had been keeping them mostly to her one-to-one services.
When the pandemic came along though, Alma realised she couldn't hold back any more. she had the idea of a book and did a brainstorm.
And yet, she was only familiar with journaling as a writing style.
She had a lot of information to share, but the world of books was a mystery to her. So, she signed up for some writing retreats to get all of the information out. But of course, it was in no structured order!
How she solved it
When she handed over her book for editing, she admits she was worried there was nothing we could do to make the book work.
Her process was necessary to get the ideas out of her head and she created a lot of content, but the order required a really big editing process.
Alma was prepared for editing to be a massive job and had done the inner work to stay the course.
Why would you do it this way?
If you're what the writing world calls 'a pantser', as in you fly by the seat of your pants when you write, you may well find your draft is quite a mess in terms of structure.
However, being 'in flow' is super super important for getting the words out.
Many people tell me they have to be really feeling it before they sit down to write. Energetically, they need to be aligned with the project and feeling good about it for everything to become concrete in words.
This approach is totally fine, pantsers! Get creative. Be messy. That's all welcome.
Just know you need to be prepared for a heck of a journey when it's editing time.

I love how Kris turned my draft into a final manuscript, while still keeping my style and my voice.
I had been writing my book for a while and I started my search for an editor early on. I came across Kris Emery and started to follow her. I loved her style and loved that she knew my genre so well - business non-fiction.
I spoke to Kris a couple of times before booking her and I got a great feeling from her. I felt like my book would be in the safest hands.
When I booked Kris to edit my book, I knew I had made the right decision. I loved the whole process. She laid everything out so clearly and simply, I knew what was expected of me and by when and she made my voice come alive even more than I expected!
Getting my book edited by Kris was a dream of mine and now when I look at the book (which reached #1 bestseller on launch day), I know that I could not have created a quality book without Kris' input.
She is simply brilliant and I highly recommend working with her.
